Fashion trends come, and fashion trends go, but can you believe it’s already 2025? If you’ve got whiplash from how quickly we went from Brat summer to New Year’s Eve, you’re not alone — we’re right there with you, but we’re definitely ready to start planning our 2025 outfits and aesthetics.
To get you started on your journey, we prowled through all sorts of expert trend research, including Pinterest Predicts, Google’s 2024 search data (fun to revisit where we were and where we’re going), The Real Real’s resale report, as well as Depop’s 2025 trend report. We referred to some of our favorite runway shows, always a key indicator of what you’ll find on the racks of your favorite stores in the coming year. Of course, you can’t forget about TikTok, which is a major driver of aesthetics and trends like the mob wife, clean/vanilla girl, and office siren; it’s also a great way to see what your peers are into.
One notable insight for 2025 is that maximalism is back in a big way, no matter which aesthetic you align with most. We’re ditching quiet luxury in favor of rich colors, loud statement accessories, and a sense of fun. Leopard print isn’t going anywhere, and (surprisingly!) neither is Barbiecore… with a twist, anyway. There’s a trend for everyone, and we can’t wait to see how you make them your own. Ahead, check out some of our favorite fashion trends for 2025.
Future Forward
The easiest way to incorporate the Y3K aesthetic into your wardrobe is with shiny silver and metallic touches, whether that’s with a sleek metal bag or silver pants. But the trend also encompasses a more dystopian vibe, with unexpected, destroyed shapes and silhouettes that make it look like you survived the apocalypse. Mix utilitarian pieces like cargo pants with jackets and tops in cool, edgy shapes for a fun juxtaposition that feels straight out of the next century.
The look is all about flowing dresses and tops in airy materials like chiffon to convey an aura of enchantment and ease. Lace blouses are also a great way to incorporate a bit of boho into your day-to-day life. The more ruffles, the better!
Stick to light colors like cream, white, yellow, and pale pink. Just like Sienna Miller in the 2000s, tone down the flowiness with a touch of leather and suede, like a motorcycle jacket, tall boots, or a studded bag. The boho look is a natural match for the Bella Hadid-inspired horsegirl aesthetic; if the horsegirl left the stables and dressed up for the night, this is what she’d be wearing. The boho revival also pairs well with Pinterest’s “goddess” trend, which is all about flowing waves and curls, gold jewelry, and draped, form-fitting dresses.
Move over, Strawberry Girl! There’s a new fruit-inspired aesthetic coming in 2025. Though the strawberry girl aesthetic was mostly beauty-driven, the cherry girl look will be the best of both worlds, with the color taking over our closets and our glam routines. Think deep, rich red, just like in-season cherries shining in a bag at the grocery store. This color lends itself well to almost every corner of your wardrobe, from a statement coat to sunglasses to a date-night dress. Even a hair clip counts! Wear it head to toe for the ultimate impact.
Oh, you thought leopard print was on its way out? Think again! As we saw on the resort 2025 runways, animal print isn’t going anywhere. Leopard print will still be a go-to, but cow print, snakeskin, and tiger stripes are also trending. You can wear animal print anywhere and everywhere, including coats, boots, and jeans. Use it as an accent piece with a bag or shoes, or let it be the focal point of your outfit. Either way, you’re going to want to show your wild side this coming year.
