Either you are born with it or couldn’t resist the Netflix marathon, either way the screen strains and late night does show. Whether you’ve been fighting dark circles for ages, or have only just noticed them, there are a number of reasons why you might be dealing with them. And we have a trick that just might work to conceal it all.

The secret? Your red lipstick!  You can brighten your under-eye area by applying red lipstick beneath your concealer. In contrast to the deep purple and blue hues, the bright red colour helps neutralise them.

Here are 6 steps to conceal dark circles easily.

De-puff Your Eyes

Tired eyes are often puffy when you wake up, so before tackling those pesky dark circles, let’s combat the puffy eyes. As you wake up, take a few minutes to rub an ice pack or a cool teaspoon on the eyes and massage it gently. This will constrict the blood vessels and your body will automatically drain the puffiness.

Apply An Eye Cream

One of the most overlooked steps in skincare has to be using a hydrating eye cream. To take care of the skin around your eyes, you need to hydrate and nourish your skin well. When you don’t, the concealer and foundation will turn cakey in the end. Use our Coffee Culture Eye Firming Cream. Enriched with skin soothing seaweed, hyaluronic acid and shea butter, it gives your under-eyes a boost of moisture, brightens and helps to strengthen the skin barrier.

Layer On Your Foundation

Now that your eyes are prepped, go ahead with a thin layer of your foundation. Applying the foundation with your finger creates a dense coverage which you can go ahead and blend well with a damp beauty sponge. We recommend using Ace Of Face Foundation Stick, a long-wearing foundation that gives you full-coverage in just one stroke.

Colour Correct With A Lipstick

Now comes the fun part. Once you’re done with foundation, use an eyebrow brush to fill in your under-eye area with red lipstick. Shades of red and orange cancels out the purple pigments of the dark circles and does a great job at colour correcting. Start with a light layer of colour and build as needed until the discoloration is no longer visible.

Check out the lipstick shades we chose for three different skin tones:

Light or Fair Skin: Try our Nothing Else Matter Longwear Lipstick- 22 Bare Hug for its reddish hue with pink undertones

Medium Skin: For medium skin, we recommend a red lipstick with a slight purple and blue tint, like our Mettle Matte Lipstick – 10 Eirene (Blue toned Red)

Dark Skin: To conceal dark circles on deeper skin tones, coral, and bright orangey reds, like our Wonder Woman Creamy Matte Lipstick – 04 Wild Wonder will work like a dream.

Blend In With Concealer

For the under eyes, it is best to use a light formula that is a shade lighter than your skin tone. This will help brighten up your eyes. You should choose a concealer that is suitable for your skin type. You need a concealer that is dense, matte, and firm so that it does not crease if you have fine lines. It may be best to go for a more hydrating liquid option if your skin is relatively smooth. Using our Magic Wand Waterproof Concealer, lightly build up your coverage until the red is completely hidden.

Set In Well

Dust your face with our Set The Tone Tinted Powder in a shade that matches your skin tone to allow for seamless and universal coverage. And once your makeup looks flawless you can set it with our Grand Finale Dewy Setting Mist.
